Some of our charcoal carbon filter frames for Mitsubishi Electric ductless systems are 3D printed using environmentally friendly PLA or PETG.

Polylactic Acid (PLA) is a biodegradable plastic that offers numerous environmental benefits. Unlike traditional petroleum-based plastics, PLA is made from renewable resources such as corn starch, sugarcane, or cassava roots, which reduces dependence on finite fossil fuels and helps to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. When disposed of in the right conditions, PLA biodegrades into water and carbon dioxide, leaving no toxic residue. Furthermore, the production process of PLA uses less energy and produces fewer harmful byproducts compared to the production of traditional plastics, making it a more sustainable option. The use of PLA can also help reduce waste in landfills and litter in the natural environment, making it a favorable choice for those concerned with environmental sustainability.

PETG (Polyethylene Terephthalate Glycol) offers significant environmental benefits that contribute to sustainability efforts. One of its primary advantages is its full recyclability, which helps reduce plastic waste and supports a circular economy by allowing the material to be reprocessed and reused multiple times. This recyclability also contributes to a lower carbon footprint compared to other plastics, as it reduces the need for virgin material and the associated greenhouse gas emissions. Additionally, the production and processing of PETG are relatively energy-efficient, further minimizing its environmental impact. PETG is non-toxic and does not contain harmful substances like bisphenol A (BPA), making it safer for both the environment and human health. Its ease of fabrication results in less material waste during manufacturing. Moreover, some versions of PETG include biodegradable additives that enable the material to break down more quickly in landfills, enhancing its environmental benefits. Together, these attributes make PETG a more sustainable choice.
